    1. Once it started calculating the route and never stopped. I had to shut it down when it reached more than 3 mil different ways to get to the point.

    2. It reset couple of times on a road just for no reason.

    3. It always resets when I choose a TTS voice and that tries to say more than 5-6 words. The voice starts choking and then the device resets.

    4. It is so annoying when moving on a freeway that I had to turn off the speaker. Otherwise, it is unstoppable even if your exit is in 15 miles and there is no any other freeways around.

    5. It does have sense of humor - it said “Exit right..”, I slammed on the brakes and barely made it, well just to hear in the very next second “.. in two miles”. What…?

    6. It is not clear how to exclude some roads from the route. Especially when you need to do it in two clicks.

    7. There is some other stuff could’ve been said (e.g. blinking background color, manual power on/off, etc.) but lets go to the positive part. Yes, it can be used in a passive mode - as a locator to show where you are. Well, that’s it.

  2. This is the best GPS in this price range with a lot of cool features like FM transmission (music, phone and etc), bluetooth, 4.3” wide and brigth screen and others.

I have no trouble at all with TOM TOM GO720.

    Love it..

The Go 720 did not meet my expectations for a GPS which is required to navigate you from point A to point B effectively, in the sense that the GPS keeps telling me to keep left , keep right , turn right and so on without specifying the name of the street or the name of the road to turn to. I find this very inconvenient, by contrast a basic model in the navigon series offers better navigation. The FM transmitter is of very poor quality and I was pissed off by the fact that the latest map guarantee has already expired. I am actually contemplating to return this product and get the navigon instead.

  4. DO THE MATH BEFORE YOU BUY THIS REFURBISHED UNIT!

I’ve a TT LE (2d Ed.), like it & decided to upgrade to the refurbed GO 720. The unit has great features and the price ($119) was OK.

However, ‘refurbed’ to me means ‘like new’ and the major problems are AMAZON does not tell you that it carries only a SIX MONTH factory warranty and that the map is at least 21 months old (on my unit). Cost to upgrade to the latest map from v.7 xx is $47 plus $48 for 4 quarterly updates. So, you’re looking at another $95 or $215 for a ‘refurb’ with a 6 months warranty. AMAZON should have full disclosure on their listings so the customer can decide! Another poster said they should be ashamed. How true! I may return it because of this. By the way, Staples ‘Black Friday’ ad will have a brand new TT GO 830 for $169 with an extra coupon discount of 10% on a single item.

  5. The device itself is great. But the refurbished model arrived set up with Dutch menus. If this happens to you click the wrench icon then the “more” arrow until you see a flags icon (takes about 5 clicks) then select your language of choice(the manual inexplicably doesn’t offer this information). It also didn’t include the software CD and tomtom doesn’t honor their latest map guarantee on the refurb unit. The refurb unit also has a short 6 month warranty.

To sum this review up the unit itself is great. The refurb deal isn’t, in light of the short warranty and old maps.
