For anyone tuning in at this moment, here are the confirmed facts reported today by CNN news about the double shooting at Virginia Tech:

1. The gunman was not a student at the university.

2. The shooter at the dorms must have had a key card or was buzzed in by someone to get past the key swipe device.

3. The second shooting in the Norris Hall building happened 2 hours and 20 minutes after the first shooting in the dorms.

4. The confirmed count has been 33 dead including the shooter, 15 injured.

5. This is the worst school shooting in the U.S. to date.

6. The shooter of the Norris Hall building chained and padlocked the doors, which he later committed suicide on the second floor when swat was entering.

7. There was no shootout with police, the shooter killed himself.

8. A witness in the Norris Hall classroom that was attacked by the gunman witnessed the gunman “peek” into the classroom twice. Later during the class the gunman walked in, approx. 5 feet into the room, and began “methodically shooting people”. The gunman left the room only to come back in after he heard people still talking in the classroom, only to shoot again. The students remaining in the room boarded the classroom door with their own bodies to keep the gunman from entering again, since the door had no lock. The gunman attempted to shoot through the door to gain access to the room again, but the door was solid wood with no windows.

9. The school administration after learning of the first shooting did not alert the entire school, or enact lockdown.

10. The school at the time did not believe the two events were related, so they did not sound any kind of alert.

11. The gunman was reported to have a handgun, wearing body armor, and dressed normally with shorts.

12. The police at this moment are talking to someone “of interest” who is cooperating with them. The exact involvement of this person to these shooting has not been reported yet.
